Dr McCann’s Outpatient Psychiatry Service provides expert mental health care for individuals aged 16 and over, either online or from our locations in Edinburgh or in the Scottish Borders. If you have had a traumatic experience or are struggling to cope with the symptoms of PTSD, outpatient treatment can provide support to help you begin the healing process. No GP referral is needed, making access to his services more convenient and straightforward for those seeking support. This eliminates the often-lengthy wait times associated with obtaining a referral or treatment on the NHS, allowing individuals to begin their healing journey without unnecessary delays. The streamlined process ensures that you can focus on your recovery without the added stress of having to wait long periods for appointments. Whether you are self-funding or using private medical insurance, Dr McCann is able to provide the cognitive therapy and professional help you need for effectively treating PTSD.
It is unusual for a person to develop PTSD after events such as a break up, a financial dilemma, or losing a job, however, it can be common to experience some signs or symptoms of PTSD.
PTSD often coexists with other mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, or even substance use disorders like drug or alcohol addiction. These overlapping issues may intensify an individual’s distress if left unrecognised and untreated. A thorough and accurate diagnosis is essential—not only to identify PTSD itself, but also to understand any co-occurring conditions that may be contributing to the symptoms experienced.
After going through a traumatic event, it is crucial to have a support network in place. Without it, you may feel isolated, angry or confused. Finding the right support when you need it most will increase your chances of recovery and provide support and therapy to help you manage and recover from the serious symptoms you are experiencing. Contact our team, today. Reaching out can often be the hardest step, but our compassionate team is on hand to guide you through our assessment and treatment process.
Recognising the signs and symptoms of PTSD will help you to understand the type of support you may need, and once diagnosed, it allows a medical professional to provide a more comprehensive and personalised treatment plan, which is vital for effective care and long-term recovery.
